Peizhong Li, M.D.
Chief Scientific Advisor

Dr. Li is a pioneer and a nationally recognized expert in preclinical evaluation of new drugs in China. He has spent more than 40 years in pharmacological and toxicological evaluation of new drugs and has taken numerous prestigious positions, including President of the Chinese Pharmacologic Society (CPS), Director of Toxicology for the CPS' Scientific Committee, Director of the National Beijing Center for Drug Safety Evaluation and Research (NBCDSER), Chairman of the GLP Expert Committee for the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), SFDA Expert Reviewer in New Drug Development and Approval, and Member of the National Expert Committee on New Drug Research and Development. In 1992, Dr. Li established and led one of the earliest GLP laboratories in China and oversaw the safety evaluations of more than 100 new drugs. Dr. Li gave many keynote speeches on GLP regulation in national and international meetings, forums and workshops. Dr. Li earned his M.D. from the Fourth Military Medical University in 1962.

Yuxia Feng, M.D.

Dr. Feng has been the President and CEO of JOINN Laboratories since it was founded in 1995. Under the leadership of Dr. Feng, JOINN has been growing rapidly and is advancing toward one of the top-level CROs in new drug safety evaluations.  Prior to founding JOINN, Dr. Feng served as an attending physician for three years in a hospital and later as a research scientist at the Beijing Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology. Dr. Feng earned her M.D. from the Third Military Medical University in 1986 and M.S. in New Drug Evaluations from Beijing Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology in 1992.


Conglin Zuo, M.D.

Dr. Zuo has been the Vice President and General Manager of JOINN Laboratories since 1997. Dr. Zuo, with his in-depth knowledge and broad experience in new drug safety evaluations, has been supervising hundreds of projects on new drug safety evaluations. Prior to joining JOINN, Dr. Zuo was a research scientist in toxicological pathology for eight years. He earned his M.D. from the Third Military Medical University in 1986 and his M.S. in Toxicological Pathology from Beijing Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology in 1989.

Dr. Gong joined JOINN Laboratories in March 2008 with ten years of US FDA regulatory experience in new drug development. He served as a Toxicology and Pharmacology Reviewer in the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) and conducted primary and critical reviews of numerous IND and NDA applications for both small molecules and biologics. These reviews covered various areas such as pharmacology, PK/PD, ADME, and toxicology studies. Dr. Gong was also a member of the FDA’s working groups on Neurotoxicology, Hepatotoxicity and Standard for Exchange of Nonclinical Data (SEND). Since joined JOINN, Dr. Gong actively promotes and implements international standards at JOINN, leading to the AAALAC accreditation in 2008, and US FDA GLP inspection in 2009. JOINN’s study reports have been accepted to support clinical trials in the U.S. afterwards. Dr. Gong is a member of the Drug Safety Evaluation Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and an ad hoc specialist of AAALAC. Dr. Gong received his Ph.D. in Toxicology from New York University in 1996 and a medical degree from Beijing Medical College in 1984.


Yunxia Sun, M.D.
Director of Quality Assurance Unit

Dr. Sun has been the director of Quality Assurance Unit since 2005. She joined the company as study director in 1999 and later was promoted to Director of the Toxicology Department. Dr. Sun majored in Toxicology at Medical College of Jilin University, (formerly Bethune Medical University).She has been involved in preclinical pharmacodynamics and toxicology studies since 1992.  She has completed more than 150 pharmacodynamic and toxicology studies in both rodents and non-human primates. She has broad experience in preclinical drug safety evaluations, especially in biologic products. By 1995 Dr. Sun had completed a series of training programs in GLP regulation and management, including those sponsored by the JACA Project (Japan), MPI Research (USA), Huntingdon Life Science (UK), and SFDA GLP Training (PRC).Dr. Sun is well versed in SFDA, OECD and FDA regulations.  


Yanqing Sun, M.D.
Director of Pathology

Dr. Sun, a senior pathologist in JOINN Laboratories, is a nationally recognized expert in the area of veterinary pathology in China.  He has more than 40 years' experience in pharmaceutical safety evaluation.  Serving as the Director of Pathology Department since 2001, Dr. Sun has overseen the pathology evaluations of hundreds of compounds. Dr. Sun earned his M.D. in 1957 from Beijing Medical College and a pathology diploma from Bethune Medical University in 1964.
